Paint it Black, in addition to referencing a great Rolling Stones song, is about oil dictating too much of our energy policy and our foreign policy. Imagine if all the money spent on wars and strategic interests in the Middle East had been spent on developing green energy alternatives? Instead, our government subsidizes the highly profitable oil and gas industries for $40 billion a year, because no politician wants a rise in the price of gas to be blamed on them. Newsflash: we are still paying more for gas whether it’s at the pump or through our taxes. The need for gas will remain, but we need to invest in sustainable energy alternatives as we transition off of the finite supply of fossil fuels that are also terrible for CO2 emissions. Proceeds from this print will go to NRDC to support their efforts to shape responsible environmental policy. Thanks for caring.

A League favorite, artist Javier Calleja will be releasing his new sculpture edition “Do Not Touch” produced by APPorfolio and Nanzuka Gallery. According to Nanzuka Gallery the only way to score is by signing up to their lottery system. So basically you will need to rub your lucky rabbits foot, eat 3 bowls of Lucky Charms cereal and walk backwards 3 times to get picked. Good luck folks because this will be a tough one to score, so don’t get your hopes up. Below is the list of rules Nanzuka posted on their instagram.

1. Application period: From 18:00 on January 8, 2020 to 23:59 on January 15, 2020.

2. Please send your address, name and phone number to the following e-mail address with the subject "Javier Calleja Do Not Touch Purchase Required" and the subject. 👉 lottery.jc@nug.jp 返 信 After receiving the e-mail, you will receive a reply e-mail with automatic acceptance.

3. We do not accept direct messages.

4. Application is valid only once per person. Applications with the same e-mail address and same address will be counted as one person.

5. The lottery results will be announced strictly by lottery, and on Friday, January 17, we will send an e-mail to the "winners only" with details on how to purchase.

6. Unfortunately, no e-mail will be sent to those who have been lost.

"Downward Trajectory” is visually a tribute to the elegant compositions and angles of Bauhaus design and Ed Ruscha, but conceptually it is a warning about the hazards of continued fossil fuel reliance, especially as the science on climate change becomes even more uncontested and alarming. Our planet is on a downward trajectory unless we transition to sustainable fuel sources. A portion of the funds from this print will benefit the NRDC (the Natural Resources Defense Council @nrdc_org) in their efforts to shape environmentally responsible policies.
